Thank you for your wonderful comments my darling wife. You're right, I do need to take time for myself and create just for me first. I need to get past the need to have something to show for when I take time to myself as opposed to just having had time to myself to create.

It happens. No matter what field of creativity. The first thing is to try and forget about it being a rut. When you go out and shoot, do it in a manner entirely different than normal. When writing, do share your experience as you did in this post. You’re not alone. Keep up the good work 🙏

Thank you Leanne. I will get myself through this "rut" and I know it won't be the last one I get into, but hopefully future ones will be less impactful.

Sometimes inspiration can be elusive and sometimes it grabs you by the arm twisting and pulling. These are really good photos.

Thank you Glenn. Inspiration can come from anywhere so I'll bide my time and let them come to me.

I think, when we feel this we, we are always hardest on ourselves which makes getting out of a rut even harder. I agree with both Leanne and Glenn... keep up the good work and share your feelings! Before you know it, inspiration will strike. We are only human and sometimes, a break is what we need.

Thank you Susi. I definitely fit into the category of being hard on myself and maybe setting my expectations too high. I'll certainly take some breaks for myself.

We can go broke just trying to be a photographer. I'm still using my Nikon D-7000. Would love to try out a mirrorless but WOW!. No way to keep up with the newest. I did finally get my camera out for some fall color. 32 clicks and nothing really struck me as unique.

Thank you Terry. Yeah, it does feel disappointing when we go out and come back with nothing. I'm learning to accept that sometimes, coming back with the experience (with or without photos to prove it) is just as good.

I struggle with these feelings, thoughts all of the time.

Living the moment rather than trying to photograph it is (for me) the first step in being able to enjoy the process.

Before you took photographs, you would likely have just enjoyed a walk in the woods. I think getting back to that feeling would be the first step. Good luck!
